3 {1}To p serve ye teeth sound. In ye morning if salt be holden in ye mouth under ye tongue, untill it melt into water, & ye teeth rubbed therew th, it will keep them safe & sound, and that they shall not be worm-eaten: So also to rub ye teeth every morn= ing w th salt not melted is very good for ye same p poses. {1} For ye Tooth-ach. The spirit of Thyme wetted on or soaked into {manicule }Linnen Lint & put into a hollow aking-took, undoubted ly cures ye same (if ye oyl or spirit be good). So also Take of salt & grated nutmeg of each a like quantity, & having dried y m on a paper before ye fire, rub them fine to pouder, & snuff the said powder up into to ye nostrill y t is on ye contrary side to ye pain. This oftentimes helps. --- {2}Seeth Ivy-berries in vinegar or in White-wine, & w n they are well sod, sup of ye same hot Liquor, & w n tis cold spit out, & sup more thereof; this helps. --- {3}Take an handfull of Ground Ivy, as much of spear=mint & as much of salt, stamp them all a little together, then put all ye same into a pint of vinegar, & seeth all well together; then strain it well, & put ye same in a close glassen vesele or bottle, & w n y will use it, take a spoonfull thereof, & put it into ye side of ye mouth y t acketh, & hold down y r Cheek, y t it may descend to ye roots of ye aking teeth, & it will take ye Ach & pain away p sently. 4 {4} A head of Garlick (ye skin pulled off & a little bruised) laid by equall parts to ye hollow parts of ye soals of ye feet, will speedily help ye Tooth-ach (espe ally if it come of a cold Cause, & be of ye nether Jaw) by drawing ye hum s out of ye soals of ye feet. Many y t used this have not been troubed w th the tooth-ach for 7 years after. {5} A peece of ye root of Crow foot called also Gold knob. w, either put into ye hollow ch is t w ch is called yellow craise I think {not sent.} of ye Tooth (if there be any) or applyed to ye tooth that aketh, will help ye same im ediately. Often p ved. {6} A little Gun-pouder put into a peece of fine Linnen cloth, & ye same put into ye hollow-tooth or holden be-tween ye teeth, so y t it touch ye aking tooth, helps speedily {7} Take a little Rewue or herbegrace, & stamp ye same, y u strain out ye Juice thereof, then drop 3 or 4 drops of ye s e Juice into ye Ear, on y t side ye aking tooth is, & let him ly on his other side an hour or two, & it will not only take away ye p nt pain, but p vent it for ever afterwards. {8} To draw out a tooth. Fill an earthen pot w th Ants & their eggs, & set e same pot in hot Embers, so long untill all be burned into Ashes, & w n y w would draw out a tooth w thout pain, take of ye same powder, & touch ye tooth therew th, & it will fall out.

5 {9} Put ye pouder of red Corall into ye hole of ye tooth, and it will fall out. {10} The pouder of Earth-worms burnt upon a red-hot-tile, or, of mice dung, or of an harts-tooth, put into ye holes of teeth y t be worm-eaten, doth pluck them up by ye roots, or make them fall out. {11} Take ye Gum of Ivy, & green Ivy Leaves, of each a like weight, & burn to pouder in a New Earthen pot, & w n it is made in fine pouder, mix it together w th ye milk of Spurge, & put some thereof into ye tooth y t y w would have out, if it be hollow, if not, touch ye tooth therew th, & it will fall out w thout any pain; but beware y w touch no other tooth w th it. {1} For ye Gout & sciatica. The root of henbane stamped, & applyed warm to ye pain of ye Gout of ye feet, & Sciatica helps &c Fry out ye grease of shoe-makers patches, or peeces of Lea= -ther, & lay some of it upon brown paper, warming it a little at ye fire, y n apply it to ye grief, & it will take away ye pains in one night. {2} Take one handfull of Mugwort, & seethe it in sweet Oyl olive till ye third part of ye Oyl be consumed; then anoint therew th any p t y t is tormented w th ye Gout, & ye pain will soon cease. {3} For ye Sciatica or Gout. Take an herb called Speregrass, & stamp it, & lay a little thereof upon ye grief, but put

6 upon it a Cockle or a Wallnut-shell, & ty something on it y t ye herb be not removed; & w thin 6 or 8 hours at ye most, it will make a great blister on ye same place. Then lay a Clot-leaf or else a Wort-leaf on ye same, But first let ye water out of ye blister w th a needle, & it will draw out all ye water y t causeth ye pain. This helpt one y t was pained therew th 20 years. {4}A notable oyl for ye Gout & Joynt-aches, true & often p ved. Take ye jouice of Sage, of Aqua-vitae, of Oyl of bays, of Vinegar, of mustard, & of beasts Gall, of each a like Quantity, put them all together in a great bladder, & chafe it well up & down w th y hands for ye space of an hour & an half, & keep it for y use; anoint ye grieved place therew th morning & evening & {5}Take Garlick & housleck, of each a like much, & stamp them both together, & plaister ye same either to a hot or cold Gout, & it will help marvelously. {6}Seeth Ivy, mugwort, Walwort, & iner rind of Elder in water, w th much salt & bath therew th any sciatica, twice or thrice a day, for 8 or 9 days together, & twill help ye {7}Culver dung sodden in Wine, till ye wine be consumed, & then emplaistered hot to ye Gout, healeth ye same per -fectly: use it morninge & evening 4 or 5 days toge -ther. / 1 peny-worth of oyl of Exeter. & 2 peny-worth of y oyl of Dalthea, mix em well together & bath em in before ye fire upon ye grieves place.
