JOHN B. HAWLEY,
HYDRAULIC ENGINEER
M. A. SOC. C. E.
CITY ENGINEER, FORT WORTH.

FORT WORTH, TEXAS, Aug. 17th 1900.

Hon. the Mayor and City Council.

City.

Gentlemen:

We, your Engineer and Electrician to who was referred the
matter of Electrolysis on the North Side bridge, beg leave to report:
that we have examined the bridge with our only available instrument, a
small and inaccurate galvanometer, getting results which indicate the
structure to be considerably charged with electricity.

In order that proper tests may be made, not only on the bridge,
but also on water pipes and other property of the City liable to elec-
trolytic damage, we respectfully recommend that, together with the pur-
chasing committee, we be authorized to purchase a proper volt-meter and
ammeter, which will cost about $60.00 each.

Respectfully,

John B Hawley-
City Engineer.

C.F. Crabtree.
City Electrician.
