Hon. Mayor and City Council Fort Worth Texas

Gentlemen About one month since we put in a bid to construct a culvert on Huffman Street, accompanied by a certified check for one hundred Dollars It was referred by your Hon body to the finance committee which has not yet reported. We are willing in any reasonable length of time to enter into a contract to do the work, and give a bond and we would like to have our check returned to us as we need to the money

Fort Worth, Texas, Aug, 3rd 1900.

Hon. the Mayor & City Council,

Gentlemen:-

Bids received this date, for construction of Huffman St, Robinsons branch culvert, opened by City Secretary Montgomery and myself at II00 A.M. this day, are as follows:

Andrew Gilchrist, - - - - - - - - - - $995.00 Morgan Evans, - - - - - - - - - - - - - I050.00 Brown & Dabney, - - - - - - - - - - - 725.00 J. A. Merriman, per cu yd $7.50. estimated - - - - - - 1012.50

All the bids were formal and contained proper certified checks except that of J.A. Merriman, which contained no check, and bid by the yard, in place of giving a full lump bid.

If it is your pleasure to let the contract at this time, I recommend the award be made to Brown & Dabney, they being the lowest bidders.

Attached hereto please find bids and checks.

Upon award, checks should be returned to the unsuccessful bidders.

P R O P O S A L.

Fort Worth, Texas, Aug 3rd 1900.

Hon. The Mayor & City Council.

Fort Worth, Texas.

Gentlemen:-

I will furnish all material and the tools implements and labor necessary to construct and complete the Huffman St, culvert on " Robinson Branch " in the City of Fort Worth, according to plans on file in the City Engineers office, for the sum of Seven and 50/100 ($7.50) dollars per cubic yard

I have thoroughly examined the plans & specifications for the work and the ground it is to be built, and I thoroughly understand the nature of Robinson branch in time of rainfall, and will assume all risks incident to rises.

Enclosed please find certified check for $100.00., payable to T. J. Powell, Mayor the avails of which the City of Fort Worth shall have the right to retain for its use and benefit, in the event that I do not enter into contract for the work and give the rwquired bond, within ten days after notification of award to me.

I fully understand that all measurement are to be " net " and not " customary " or " rule " measurements.
