My dear little Helen Alice, [page torn], and Ga How glad I was to get, [page torn], your lovely letters! I ought to answer each one by itself but will try to do so some day later. I'll be very glad to see you all when your Mama brings you and I know Margaret will too. She is asleep now. Write to me again when your Mama writes. Give my love to Jack too. Your loving Auntie "Ga".

Lankershim, Cal.

Feb. 28, 1912

My dear Dedie: I tho't yesterday I'd send you a card today, but as your letter came, I'll send one in return. The dear girls, to send such nice letters to "Auntie Ga," Helen does fine in writing and I'm so glad she loves school so much. Hope she can go regularly for she will do better and keep up a better interest.

Is Jack still doing well in school? I hope he likes to go and is learning.

Well, the time will soon fly around

[left page] when my little girl, (and her brother), will be ready for school. It is just wonderful how time flies!

I was so glad to hear about all your livestock, butter, eggs, milk, etc. and your work. It seems so long since I have had a visit with you. Had no time for visiting when you were here last. We had a letter from Mother Sherwin last week written the 17, her 86" birthday. She is a dear old lady and I'm sorry I cannot have her near so we can see her oftener. Had a letter from brother Ray, (at home), last week. He [rigth page] says Papa and Mama are poorly this winter and thinks he and they will come to Cal. next fall and rent a house and spend the winter. I hope they may.

Well, my girl was not well last week and I did work and work. Fortunately, I was feeling better and when she left Sat. eve., she said she would come back Mon. a.m., if able. She was not able to come so I was alone again till this morning. A woman came to help me out for a few days. Mrs. Falory came out again last eve. to stay a day or two so I have help in abundance. She was out week before last for two days

she will be with me when I have my "party" and I'll have Fay too, if she is well enough to do the work. If not, there are two or three women in Lankershim, newcomers, who will come. I like Fay for she is so good to me and Margaret and that will mean so much. I am sorry she is not stronger.

I tell you, sister, I did not know what to think when you never had a word to say after I wrote you of my "prospects." I have been so very poorly all winter and so discouraged etc. and no friend to come near me- Ida never was out since Thanksgiving till about three weeks ago and I felt as tho no one cared if I lived or

5 died. The Lankershim ladies have all been so good and lovely but, of course, they are, comparatively, strangers. If Mr Sherwin hadn't been so good & kind & thoughtful, always, I would have been pretty blue indeed!

I wanted so much to come to see you but was far from able to do so as there were not many times that I have felt equal to a drive around Lankershim, I expect to have my "tea party" in less than a month and if you cannot come before and after both, I wish you would come after it is over. I am so miserable and nervous that I think we would both enjoy it more later, altho I'd love to see you now. But I know how hard it is for you to get awayI have not done much sewing as I had
