Dear ones at Arcadia:

I received your card and box of candy. All ok and many thanks.

It was oughfuly, [awfully], nice of you to send your old cranky dad. Such nice candy.

Well, the people are still coming thicker every day, so Mr. Lewis has had to order some more hotel rooms built. My, how I wish were all up here. It gets oughful, [awful], lonesome here nights. The old gentleman that I'm rooming with is going to build a garge, a autmoble house right away and then

2) we will move into it and stop this room rent.

Well, we have got one five room house almost ready for plaster and a two story house started. Just started today to raise the second story and got the foundation in for the third house, and still more to follow. My, I wish I was divided into about 4 pieces. I think I could make some money then. I wish I could get some of Daisy Bell's milk. I don't get any such milk here. It is mostly canned milk and not very good, either, at that.

I'm getting so tired of this boarding house grub. I don't eat only two meals a day. Trying to cut down expenses. I wish I could get some of your good bread and soup. I think I could eat a barrel full of it. I don't get any pancakes here.

I wish you would write up to Visalia and get that $50.00 of Keller before you lose it. The time will be up in April, so get busy. The deed is in the writing desk. Will half to go before

4) a notary to have it signed and, maybe, you will half to send it up here for me to sign. I meant to do that before I came away. Now, please don't forget it. I know you have your hands full and more too.

Well, I guess I will quit this scratching for tonight and go to bed.
