ATTENTION: Read my letter first. Then get Mama's page in order to read here. It will be all mixed up if you don't.

Monrovia, California Nov. 8, 1929

Dear Daddy: Suppose you wonder when we, or I, am going to write. This is the beginning, anyway. Mother is talking to John. So when she finishes, we'll tell you what she found out. I talked to Helen today. Said the kids were fine & the next time I saw Virginia to ask her to say, "Daddy's Dutch," so suppose that is her latest.

Mother asked John what he did with her daughter. Said he left her at Scripps last Monday a.m. & she was still there when he stopped this p.m. Said he arrived home about 2:30 this afternoon. just this way. Brandt called up & I went out for a while with him. Went down on the 10 o'clock car to S.S. yesterday & Roy brought me home about 3. Virginia, Helen came at 4 & wanted me to go around with her to make a few calls here in Monrovia. When I got back, changed my clothes & went down to C. C. with her. Went down to see the football game between Monrovia & Citrus. Monrovia beat them 31 to 0. Guess Ma has told you about all the news. We want to get this off in the evening mail

Tonite will be later cause it is now 6:00. What newspaper do you get? Will send you the funnies of the ones you don't get. Bye bye 'til next time. Love, Alice Grandy

Sun nite about 9 o'clock

Dear Daddy: I got home from the Presbyterian Church about 20 min ago and found Alice here. She did not stay for preaching services. Neither did she this a.m. as she and some of the kids had to have a visit & then went down stairs and fixed chairs etc. for C. E. tonight. Then she went down to Ellen's and was there for lunch. Roy brought her home about 3 o'clock. He had to go to San Pedro to meet the 5:30 boat from Catalina Island to get his Dad and Cloe. Gae was home last eve. for supper and then John took her back again at 10 o'clock. John expected to have gone to some big show in evening and was to have telephoned Gae to see if she had decided
