In May the college announced the beginning of the public phase of its $40 million campaign, "A Legacy of Excellence - A Future of Distinction".

The freshman core curriculum was revised. There is a new seminar in which students choose courses from among a variety in all of the Divisions. The CIE was offered first semester only.

Goucher II students were mainstreamed with traditional undergraduates. In the past these students started out taking classes on Thursdays only.

In conjunction with Loyola College Goucher offered a new minor in German.

In September about 200 students, faculty and staff participated in the third annual Goucher Morning of Community Service. The program is mandatory for new students.

Parking lots in Dorsey Center and Hoffberger were enlarged to hold 400 more cars. Freshmen were allowed to have cars on campus for the first time.

The MTA #11 bus extended its route to the campus.

Five members of Choregraphie Antique performed in the movie Washington Square being made in Baltimore.

President Mohraz was appointed as the co-chair of the USNA Board of Visitors.
