Village of Chin Tan.
We had a slight head wind
in the Wind-box Gorge and
the men were sent up to
the high road to truck. A
rather unusual thing.
We had fully 600 yards of
rope out.
It was a slow and hard days
work. It was not till 5 p.m.
that we were done for the
night. The [?] [?] were
in full swing though the
rising river was [ensuring?]
a steady retreat.

The season is earlier at
Kuipu. The [?] and [?]
were in [?] fit for
gathering. I noted [?]
[?] in flower with it
