Mr, John Butter [right side of paper] Boston April 9th, 1766
Your fav.r of [??] Jan.y came to hand 15th Feb.y before which I had shipt
your Bil of Rhodes Havens & forwarded Invoices & Bill Lading for the same, tho' had it
remain here it would not have fetch'd the price you sell by a good deal. hope it got safe
to hand.

On Receipt of your Letter I waited on Mr. Henry [Athirsjan.r??] when he to come
it suited him best to pay you the money w.ch he could do soon, saw that appeared to be
not agreable to you by your Letter & no opportunity for Shipping I did not urge his
paying in Duch, the 25th Feb.r he paid me [pound sign] 33.6.8 Lawful money in part which
waits your Orders & promis'd to finish it in a short time, this he has not yet done
it, but hope will in a few days, when you shall be advised thereof, mean time I am

Dear Brother [right side of paper] Boston April 9th: 1766
I rec:d your several letters of 8:th & 12:th Dec.r & 22:d & 27:th March
to part of which have replyd, the Letter from Brother Joseph to H:y Smith
respectng Paschal's Cloaths you acknowledge the rec:t of, I say you will
return it after Communicating it to Jo.s which youl not forget. I note
Cap.t Haneson was not arrived when you wrote, much fear he never will
as by your Acco.tt he was in an ill State Health, or if he should his
delay with so many [Vefsells] on Charge & daily receiving damage by
the Worms & Lo[??] of Markets, will so much Lessen his Interest, that
the whole will not neat much more than one half [added in later] so much as it would [back to original writing] three months agoe
I think myself really unfortunate in this Connection, but on reflection
cant Tax myself with any imprudence in it, I believe the most cau
tious person in Trade here would readily have engag'd from the same
prospect & motives. I know no person whom I can with propriety in
quite M.r Livingstone's Charactor, shall therefore leave tht to your
prudence. I have no reason for any suspicions of him, but rather think
him.
