in I note that the [^Cattle] [per] Somes did not turn out so well as those [per] Attwood
which may be Accounted for by his having had them a much longer time
onboard. The Cattle you recieve by this Conveyance are xxxxx number'd
by Notches or Scratches on the Horns from one to twenty & the Weight as
laid by Sampson sett against each Number in the Invoice the Next
Cattle will be something Cheaper, if the Season proves favourable will
soon be pretty reasonable but at present we begin to be threaten'd with
Drought I am

I rec[d] your fav[r] of 9th Curr[entt] respecting five Cask & one Chest
imported in the Briggantine Friendship Cap[t] Chadwell from Falmouth
before the Rec[t] of your Letter he had ship't them on board my Sloop Speedwell
Capt. Paschal Nelson Smith who will be the first Vessell from [^hence for] New
York but when she will get away is quite uncertain Freight coming in
but Slowly I am Your humble Servant
P.S. I will take Bills Lading & give directions
for the delivery of the Goods to you at Mr. Hugh Ryder's
to whom please to remember Believe Cap't Smith [^will sail] in all Next Week
