Description
A dark, thick, flammable liquid distilled from wood, coal, or peat, consisting of a mixture of hydrocarbons, resins, alcohols, and other compounds. Commonly used for coating and preserving timber. Coal tar is generally distilled into 3 fractions: chemical oil, creosote, and carbon pitch.
