neighbouring parts they have given great relief in that dreadfull disease, in a verry short time.

Mania. It would require a whole lecture to speak fully of their use in Mania, they are generally used and with blisters I have made verry instantaneous and perminant impression upon maniacs, sometimes however they do harm.

Epilepsy. They are important remidies in many cases of Epilepsy, I have frequently prevented the paroxysms of the disease by means of blisters and synapisms.

Hydrocephalus Internus. I have already spoken of Hydrocephalus Internus and of the use of blisters in this disease when speaking of Mercury, so that it is scarcely necessary to say any thing more respecting it. Whenever I have performed a cure it has been by bleeding, and repeated blisters, togather with purging.

Vertigo. I have had too much experience of them in my own person not to speak of them with gratitude. I have apply'd them to the inside of the wrists and ancles, and to the back of the neck, and found all equally usefull. I have indeed employ’d synapisms to advantage but when there is time I prefer blisters.

Blisters

Pyrosis. When the disease does not yield to mild means, Blisters should be used on the Epigastric Region and sometimes on the ancles and calves of the legs.

Bite of the Rattle Snake. Blisters have been employ’d, an account of this practice I have published in the Philadelphia Transactions of Medicine.

Small Pox. Dr Driensder apply’d a blister on the arm with much advantage, where he was afraid of violent inflamation.

Incontinence of Urine. They should be apply’d upon the sacrum or pubis, so as to keep up the stranguary.

Gangrene. In gangrene they are verry serviceable, stopping the disease almost immediately. I refer you to Dr Physicks valuable paper in the Phylosophical Transactions of Philadelphia.
