To make surfeit Water.

Take 3 gallons of the best Brandy, speck of popies,
of Elderflowers Spearmint, Balmagremony,
thyme, Sweet Marjoram, rue, bettony, Suthechrod,
Isson, & penny royal of each 1 handfull 2 bunches
of Marigold, pic't. 2 pennyworth of Angelica
4 pennyworth of Dragon, burridge, & Bugloss
flowers of each 1 pint, 12 pennyworth of rossa
Solis Cardanium & parriway seed of each one
ounce long pepper coriander seed, anniseed,
mace cloves, & Cinnamon of each 1/2 an Ounces
1 tt. of New figs, 1 tt of seasons in the Sun Ston'd
& Ounces of Venice Treacle, put these into
your brandy, begin in May & Cover it and[crossed out]
close till the latterend of July, or the beginning
of August, thern Strain it off, Squeese thereby
very dry, & Sweeten it w[superscript]th Sugar to your pallet
you must use the Stalks of the Angelica
& Dragon & no other Stalks, the less you
handle [illegible] rosa Solis the better only cut of [???]
