Know all men by these presents that I Stephen Badger of Natick in the County of Middlesex & Province of the Massachusetts Bay in New England Clerk, am holden & stand firmly bound and obliged unto Thomas Hubbard of Boston in the County of Suffolk {Esquire} Treasurer of Harvard College in Cambridge in New England in the full & Just Sum of Eighty Pounds lawfull money of the Province aforesaid to be paid unto the said Thomas Hubbard in his capacity aforesaid or to his Sucessor in said Office: to the which Payment well & truly to be made, I bind myself , my Heirs, Executors & {administrators} firmly by these presents: Sealed with my seal. Dated the Twenty Eighth day of August in the Twenty fourth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second, by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain &c Annoq. Domini one thousand and seven hundred & fifty three ~

The Condition of this Obligation is such, that whereas the Corporation of Harvard College in Cambridge aforesaid did on the seventh day of February last vote that the Sum of Forty pounds lawfull money should be advanced to the said Stephen in order to enable him to build, & settle at said Natick as a missionary in their Service to the Indians there, he giving his personal Obligation to refund the same in case he should remove, or quit his Ministerial Charge (otherways than by Death) before the expiration of ten years from the time of his Ordination. And whereas the said Stephen was on the twenty seventh day of March last ordained to the pastoral Office & has in consequence of said vote received the sum of forty pounds as aforesaid: if the said Stephen shall continue at Natick the full term of ten years agreeable to the true Intent & meaning of the vote aforesaid, then this present Obligation shall be void & of none Effect, or else shall remain in full force & Virtue
