MMF letter #12 cont. (New York August 27 1793)
I am afraid Maria's election will not be of the best. I told
her I would not chuse [sic] the worst &, I might with truth
have said, either of them. I thank you my beloved friend for
your good opinion, if I could but deserve half I should do well
The vessel sails early in the morning, it is now late ev'vy one
is at rest in the house but myself myself, I feel as if I should
sleep well so good night to you my friend.
Tell M^r R, I should be very happy to enjoy the society of
his amiable Sister, but I cannot. Papa wants would not permit
me to stay, tho' much urg'd, with M^rs G. W. in Boston & remov'd
me from Doctor B-- refus'd the request of Betsy Bowen & if I sh
should accept M^rs S. W's kind invitation, I know they would be
offended------ -
Good night, encore une fois, ma chere, ma bonne amie,
Je suis la votre avec toute
