"Salt rhume" seems to be a disease mentioned in a number of colonial documents, including a letter from Abigail to John Adams (saying that John was afflicted), but I could not find any confirmed modern name. Symptoms included "eruptions"/sores that were very itchy. Another Abigail Adams letter to John Thaxter suggests it might be a hereditary condition -- maybe psoriasis or another autoimmune condition?
