financially afford to remain. His own private practice
would amount to five or six times more than his salary.
He does not care for money, but he is President of a Medical
College wihout endowment and has taken over a small bank
largely I judge because of his love for his neighborhood.
His is more interested in people and in ancient New England
history than in penology, I judge, in the last analysis.

I would have to talk to you face to face to
convince you how happy I am with my work here and the
numerous doors it is likely to open. Your Professor Young
might not agree with our ideas of research, but I am starting
the foundation of clinical interviews as a single technique
for repose and friendliness which is giving me fresh,
convincing material. Still, I love to have you say that I
ought to be running a Children's Clinic. (Perhaps our little
nursery school, now running full tilt may develop into a
Children's Clinic.)

I am writing at once to Miss Engle explaining
that you must hear something definite soon.
