Dearest Dr. Van Waters

I know you worry about your
girls, and I know you know how stunned
I was yesterday; therefore, I hasten to
let you know that thus far I'm all right.
I stayed in Framingham last night to
compose myself before returning home.

I am about to drop the Commissioner
a line thanking him for his time. Frankly:
I wouldn't know where to begin to
substantiate anything, because so far as
I could see, he didn't even condede I was
born. I honestly see nothing in
the future for me, because if the
Commissioner of Correction is so
"prosecuting attorney-ish" in manner,
I certainly can't expect anything from
Society - nobody's fault but my own,
incidentally.
