My Dear Family:

First of all, please accept my deepest and
prayful hopes for a very happy New Year.

Second, please accept my most humble and
sincere gratitude for the so welcome basket at Christmas.

Food and cigarettes, coffee, fruit and that
lovely box of candy. Oh, I cannot find words to say
Thank you! from the very bottom of my heart. What
touched me so deeply my dearest Family, is the fact
you are so very busy I read, and realized, what a
terrible ordeal you are going through. What hurts and
burns me up completely, is the injustice and irony of the
whole procedure.

I know, and God knows you accomplish more
good, and do more for those poor unfortunate women in
minutes, than all those cheap. lying politicians could
ever do in a life-time. Well, thank God! You have some
good friends, I thanked God for Mrs. Roosevelt's support
of you and your humane ideas of penology.

No doubt you have read "My Three Years with
Eiesenhower"? Think I shall write of my three years
with Dr. Van Waters. Dear Family, I remember you daily,
night and morning in my prayers. I continue to live
as you want me to.

We don't have very much but I much rather do
without things than have them the other way. My dear
Family, is there anything I can do? Shall I go to
"The Record" and tell them, or write a story for them
about your saving my life, and causing me to lead
an entirely new and different one? Or, shall I through
them make an appeal to all those to whom you have given a
new leave on life? Or, shall I attempt to see Mr. Dever
and tell him?

Just say the word and I will gladly do either
or all of them. I'm going to try and contact Mr. Claude
B. Cross today and ask him how or if I can possibly serve
you in some way.

Please write when you can I will deem it a
favor to do anything within my power. May God Bless you,
make his Face To Shine Upon You, and give you health,
strength and courage to carry on you figt for Right.

Your Family
Ruth LaVache
