Dear Ones at Home

Aaron, I got your package, the 25th, at Dansville _ all right _ Have had very good meetings _ & a good time generally.

Found the shoe merchant, Grant, at Dr. Jackson's Water Cure_ _ & at my meeting, Sunday, in Methodist Church, at Dansville_ Susan George_ that was _ came & spoke to me _ enquired after Merritt & his wife _ She looked bright as ever_ _

How comes on my little Dollie _ No, "Suzy" _ I left her asleep _ & didn't kiss her good bye_

I think of you each & all left

at the farm & at l's - & hope you are growing in the graces _ I speak & or 3 miles from this to night, tomorrow night at another huddle _ 5 miles _ & next night at Prattsburg _ 10 miles _ thus I am jogging on _

Had our dear father lived to yesterday _ he would have been 69_ _ Last night I dreamed of him, his tone, motions & all just as when with us _ wholly forgetful of the fact of his change _ until I awoke to the sad reality.

My Albany letter stated that our State Convention would be held at Albany, the last week in February _ I now think I may be home Saturday the 7th not certain_ _ just to stop over Sunday, if at all_

I enclose to Aaron my places for next week _ hope to hear from you _ good bye & same to all_ Mother, do be careful of your health_ S.B.A.

Dear Brother Merritt

I got a telegram from Brother D. R. Saturday night saying you had been up to [Leonenworths?] & had decided not to go east this fall - I do wish you would write and tell us all about it_ Has Mary given coming, too _ or any yourself? _

Sister Guelma is no better _ but constantly losing ground _ though so slowly as hardly to be perceptible from day to day

She sits up but very bitter & now rides out but very seldom-

Our dream - or my dream - at least - that all of our family circle would yet gather around mother here before she passed over the river - is now at an end -Mary I do wish you would write oftener & tell us everything about yourself Merrit & the children - When you do write you write real good letters - your last one came the same day with one of Annies - not her last - nor her next to the last either - and when

I had done reading it to mother _ she said, well Mary's letter is about equal to Annie's - And you know we all give sister Annie the credit of putting the most of herself & Dan & the children on paper - so much so that we feel every letter fairly makes us see & hear them _ It does seem so good to be taken right into your homes & see just how you all look & what you are all doing_ _Mother is unusually smart _She went with me two weeks ago to Phelps & attended Mr. Bushnells funeral _ the husband of Almira Howe_ _before leaving Phelps _ got a telegram that Decca Hathaway

had died Monday & was to be buried Wednesday _ So we came to West Farmington Wednesday A.M. and attended her funeral_ _It was sad enough to dear Cousin Hanah stripped of her darling "Bec." as she called her [?]

[?] Tuesday _ Sister Gala is breathing very hard tonight_ _The slightest adverse mind will do the sad work _ Aaron is holding her forehead _ as she leans over to breathe a little easier _ just as we used to Father's _ May will remember _ how glad we shall all feel of any kind word & deed toward her _ _Why can't we always remember to so speak & act toward all as to make us rejoice ever & ever _ affectionately your sister Susan B.
