Respected Daughter

I arrived at the old castle
last evening - found to my great satisfaction
the inmates thereof all well & no
new cases of fever or sickness in
the plaine since I left Eliza Ann
Burdick died at 6 oclock the evening
that we left - Russel Carter continues
about the same - thought to be rather
better - Sally Burdick no better but is
supposed to be failing - Grandfather was very
much pleased at with the paper giving
the account of the 5h Signers of the Declaration
of Independence & with the account I gave him
of our visit to the may concerns of
antiquity - I found a letter from your
Uncle Jos Howe but no mention made
of the rest of news upon the [?] subject of
a School Teacher - Shall expect another
[?] each suceeding mail - Guelma'
letter to Scep & D. R. has been read - also
papers - I will forward the letter which
I think very good -
I leave the rest for the girls
