Thee Garden Club met on Tuesday morning September the twenty-second with the new president Mrs. [Sirlaff?] presiding.
The roll call [showed?] six [?] members present.
The minutes of the last meeting were read & approved.
The treasurerreported a balance on hand of $86.87.
Mrs. [G?]. F. [Tomlinson?], chairman of the programme committee submitted an outline of the programme for the Club year. The club voted to leave the selection and preparation of the Year Book to the [illegible] of the programme committee. It was decided however that the Year Book should not be printed [illegible] [next line illegible] curtailing a part of the expense of the Books.
The programme committee asked that suggestions from the Club members for [next words illegible] that might be undertaken by the Club [illegible] [illegible the Committee.

Virginia Ragsdale were elected
The Treasurer made a [?] of all disbursements with a balance of $49.54 on hand and this report was accepted
The program for the morning on the subject of "Planning the Garden" had Mrs McEwen as leader and she read a very interesting paper on the subject
A short talk by Mrs F. R. Taylor on "Uniting the House and Garden" one by Mrs J W Moore on "Privacy in the Garden and one by Mrs A E Tate on "The [minimal?] care of a Garden" concluded the program for the morning
As there was no further business the meeting adjourned to meet with Mrs E T [?] Oct 25

& discussion at the next meeting which is to be in the nature of a consultation with Mr Tillson + Mrs Elwood Cox gave us a most interesting & instructive talk foundd on her wide experience in the planting of fall bulbs & seeds The meeting then adjourned to meet November eigth with Mrs J E Kirkman

Mrs W C Jones moved, and it was seconded, that The President appoint a committee to confer with The City Council as to the upkeep of this planting. The Committee appointed was Mrs. Sal Tomlinson, Mrs. A S Parker and Mrs W C Jones. Mrs. A E Tate, Chairwoman of the Committee for the Preservation of Christmas Greens, reported that this Committee has been vusy and feels that they have made a lot, altho they have not yet done what they hoped for. The matter of living Christmas trees is being investigated and The Committee hop to have a full report on this at the next meeting. The meeting was not turned over to Mrs. W A White, Chairwoman of The Program Committee. Shse announced that a special feature of this meeting would be a Coubet itiree Exhibit of Winter Boquets and to act as Judges were there members.

This included the gardens described and left each member with a feeling of real pride in the Old North State.
Our President thanked Mrs Blair most graciously for her valuable paper after which the meeting adjourned.

The High Point Garden Club met on January 12th at the home of Mrs Charles [Sieeloff?] at 10 o clock am. Twenty three members were present and the President Mrs White presided.
The meeting opened with the roll call by the Secretary after which the December minutes were read & approved
The Treasurer was absent but mailed a report of $113.00 on hand
Under the head of unfinished business it was stated that the council had decided to drop the matter of Mr Pyle

and his rose lecture for the present. It was also stated that the letter regarding Christmas greens was published in the local paper.
Mrs S H Tomlinson brought up the very important matter of a [selection?] of the date for the coming State meeting. The President promised that this would be attended to immediately.
