10-4-42 "Ned" received first weekend pass returned
[blank] to Roosevelt Field at 2:25AM Tuesday Morning

10-9-42 "Ned" located trouble with engine while
[blank] installing Oil lines - the pipe elbow
[blank] incorrectly places. "Ned" was given much
[blank] praise by local instructor (this was
[blank] a Dayton Factory error) "Ned" felt he would
[blank] not be given credit for detecting the fault.

10-11-42 "Ned" became friends with a Mr. Knott,
[blank] who owned a drug store in Mineola. Mr
[blank] Knott suggested Vitamine A for Color
[blank] Blindness. Stated over 2 cases tried
[blank] were cured.

10-21-42 "Ned" & group left Roosevelt Field, N.Y.
[blank] around mid-night. Transferred to Curtiss
[blank] wright Service School Barracks #9
[blank] Class 10, Hdgts - Detachment, Willimsville
[blank] Branch Route 4, Buffalo, N.Y.
[blank] New School - First Class there to
[blank] specialize on Curtiss - P-40.
[blank] will spend 27 school days in this school
