San Diego, Cal. Monday afternoon Nov. 16, 1942

Dear Eva,

Well I got here Monday, was pretty tired. I never saw such crowded and slow trains in all my life. I called Henry and talked to him from Los Angeles, where he lives is about sixty miles from Los Angeles and about one hundred from San Diego. I didn't have time to go see him but if I am here long enough maybe I will get a chance.

I dont have any idea where I will be transfered to from here but I hope it is back on the east coast.

Eva I certainly did enjoy my leave and I appreciate everything you and Harry did for me, maybe someday I will be able to do the same for you. Give Velma my love and tell her I will write later, I have so many to write I don't know whether I will catch up or not. I had better close as I have a lot more to write. Give my regards to all and write.

Love Jewell
