[letterhead: UNITED STATES MARINES
CAMP JOSEPH H. PENDLETON]
Dear Eva
I received your letter and money
order. I was all set to leave on furlough
but it looks as though I will have to
wait. The rest of company is going out
on maneuvers for about a month and
I am being sent to rocket school for
a week, the top sgt. told me that there
wouldn't be any furloughts until the company
comes back from maneuvers. So it looks
as though I will have to wait. Eva if
you need the money before I can use it let
me know and I will send it back, otherwise
I will keep it until I get the furlough. If
I don't get the furlough in a month or so
I doubt if I will get one.
I have been working pretty hard and
have lost a little weight which is an improvement | 1Sunday April 2, 1944
