Dear Eva,

Just a few lines to let you know that I am safely overseas. We have been here three or four days but this is the first chance I have had to write. The trip over was uneventful, quite a few of the boys got seasick but that was to be expected. I can't tell you where I am but there is no cause to worry for it is safe enough here. The ride to camp was made on the train in open flatcars and we passed some very beautiful scenery. The natives were very friendly, every time we passed a village they would throw us bananas, coconuts, and other native fruit.

I hope you got the letter with the money order in it O.K. I mailed it just before I left. I also mailed a box with a few things I want you to keep for me. I got a letter from Henry just before I left the states. He said he is going to take up a government

Eva, I am sending you some pictures of my squad and myself that we took before we left. Don't give any of them away as I want to keep them.

Well there isn't much more to write so I guess I will close for now. Give everyone my love.
