Dear Eva,

Well this is the first day of December and I am not in such a good mood. I caught a pretty bad cold the last day or so, I went to sick bay this morning and I had a temperature so I didn't go out in the field with the rest of the company. The wind blew so hard last night that I thought it was going to blow the tent down. I was down at the beach the other day practicing landings with amphibious tractors and I got soaked through & through. We hit one breaker going out that I thought was going to turn the tractor over. I wrote in my last letter that I was going to send you a money order for thirty or thirty five dollars but I have changed my mind. I broke my watch the other day and I may have to buy another one. If I do I will send the one I have home, it has a broken balance wheel staff.

I received a letter from Faison today he said he was expecting the new arrival just

any time. He was complaining about some of the shortages. If he got in the service he would really have something to complain about. The way he put it he seems to think I am on a pleasure trip out here. I guess some people never realize what its all about until they have to do it themselves. Knowing Faison the way I do it's a good thing he never got in the service, some of the things that happen would be too much of a shock to him. I received my first copies of the Enterprise the other day and read them through a couple of times a lot of articles were about things familiar to me. I also received a package from Henry & Elizabeth it was a fruit cake, the boys and myself really enjoyed it.

We had an inspection by the General and his staff a couple of days ago, I never saw so many brass hats in all my life. We prepared for three days for a fifteen minute inspection. The General seems like a pretty good guy though. Just as he got to me he

noticed the other outfits standing at attention so he gave them, at ease.

I guess you and Harry are pretty busy shopping for Judy's Xmas, I sure would like to be there xmas morning and see her expression. Maybe when I get back I will get a chance to play Santa Claus to her. I guess she has just about forgotten me by now. Well Eva I guess this just about finishes my letter, so I will close for now.

Love to All Jewell
