High Point, N.C. Monday

Dearest Pete: Well, Harry went fishing again yesterday and as usual he didn't bring any fish home but he said he caught a few and gave them to the other men. I told him he couldn't prove by me that he caught any as I don't ever see them. He really enjoys fishing, he has another trip planned for Easter week-end. He will go on Sunday and stay until Monday. He should bring some home with all that time to fish. Claibon Nelson is home after serving thirty some months overseas. He really looks fine. He has gained several pounds. He and his sisters & brother were over here Saturday night and we played penny poker. As usual I lost. We really had lots of fun. He was asking about you. Said to give you his regards. He will go to California after his furlough is up here . (over)

2 Pete dear, I saw the Invasion of Iwo Jima on the screen. It was quite a lengthy newsreel and was very plain. I have the Life magazine with a few pictures for you and I am trying to get all I can for your scrap book. I really am very proud of you, Pete, and so very thankful that you are alright and hope to see you before so very long. I hope. We are all praying for you and are looking forward to your return. Well, Harry has started his gardening. He has planted peas, onions and radishes. He plans to have quite a garden this year. He planted a row of strawberries last fall. Bet Judy will keep them picked for us, don't you? The News in Europe is good and the news is that the fighting is about over on Iwo Jima. I know you Marines are glad and should have a good long rest.
