Bellville, Austin Co. Texas. Jan. 10, 1887

Dear Mrs. Fisher:

I would have written to you before but have been sick ever since I came home.

I arrived here on the 2nd very much fatigued.

Did not have any trouble during my journey. Every one was very kind to me as they knew I was travelling alone. Had to lay over all day in Atlanta, New Orleans, and Houston on my way, but passed away the time by writing a few letters, and also by reading a novel which I had

The fruit which you gave me I enjoyed so much. I did not get much to eat on my way for I was afraid to get off my train, for fear I might not get back on the right one again.

Give my regards to Mrs. Royster. I will now close. With many many thanks to you again for your kindness to me while in Columbia.
