Home. Jan 6th 1895.

Dear Mother & Sister Your Christmas & New Years letters came bringing their messages of love, in due time. I have enjoyed several naps on the beautiful Sofa Pillow you sent me. Mollie has her scarf on one of the chairs and Frank says the Hankerchief is the prettiest he ever saw. Marjorie says her Hdkf is too pretty to use and she will keep it for dress(?) occasions. The children were blessed with a great number of presents, mainly useful, quite a number came from outside. Mollie and I were not forgotten. I have been very busy for the last two weeks looking up a business. A manufactory of Plumbers Supplies located in the natural gas region Kokomo, Ind. I found it loaded with debts and not paying expenses. I tried to compromise the debts and to buy up the stock, but could not succeed to my satisfaction so have dropped the matter for the present. I think the business will go into Receivers hands, then I may be able to buy it free from debts and stock obligations. I have looked into the matter enough to think with proper management 7 or 8000. per year can be made. I have some other matters in view and I shall be real glad to end my long vacation and go to work. if so I will not take my usual trip South this Winter.
