THIS DEED, Made this 22 day of Dec. 1875 by Daniel Bertran and wife Sarah Jane of Guilford County, and State of North Carolina to Alfred A. Gordon of the same County, and State.

Witnesseth, That said Daniel Bertran & wife in consideration of Three hundred 00/100 dollars to them paid by A. A. Gordon, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, have bargained and sold, and by these presents do bargain, sell and convey to said Alfred A. Gordon and his heirs, a tract of land in Guilford County and State of North Carolina bounded as follows, viz: Beginning at a stone on the road leading from Greensboro to High Point in Henry Church's line; thence east with his line to his corner a stone Thodeus Becken's corner; thence north 118 poles to the Greensboro & High Point road; thence west with said road to the forks of said road & the old Salisbury stage road — thence in a southerly direction along the Greensboro & High Point road to the beginning, containing 45 acres, more or less —

To have and to hold the aforesaid tract of land and all privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging to the said Alfred A. Gordon and his heirs and assigns, to their only use and behoof.

And the said Daniel Bertran & wife covenant that they are seized of said premises in fee, and have right to convey the same in fee-simple, that the same are free from incumbrances, and that they will warrant and defend the said title to the same, against the claims of all persons whatsoever.

State of North Carolina, Guilford County. IN PROBATE COURT.

BE IT REMEMBERED, That on this 22nd day of December, A. D., 1875, before me, James N Nelson, Probate Judge for said County, personally appeared Daniel Bertran & wife Sarah J. Bertran grantors named in the foregoing Deed, and acknowledged the due execution thereof by them as their act and deed. And thereupon, the said Sarah Jane Bertran being by me privately examined, separate and apart from her said husband, touching her free consent in the execution thereof, doth declare, on such her examination, that she had executed the same freely, of her own will and accord, without any force, fear or undue influence of her said husband, or other person, and did still voluntarily assent thereto. Therefore, let the said Deed, with this Certificate, be registered.
