[Morris?] Wednesday, 1862

Dear Lettie

Who would have thought that I could stay in Cherry Valley one month or nearly one, without seeing [that?] dearest friend I have here, and since our dear [C?] has left - us, she dearest I have any where. I have wanted to see you so much, but could not. I have not felt like walking much, and I suppose it has been just as difficult for you to come and see me. I am stealing just a minute from the hurry of getting ready to go to Orwell, to scrawl this hasty line to tell you that I love you, and that I shall be so lonely, and you must write to me like a good dear friend as you are.
