To Frank
When wintry skies have robbed us all, Ee'n Christmas nosegays must be small. So the flowers I send ^bring^ for Frank to wear, May seamly seem, though bright & fair But if my skill were as my will, this path with roses I would fill No thorns should hide amid the bloom Decay and blight should find no room. A merry Christmas, Frank, I wish for thee With sweetest friend, on Christmas tree May Santa Claus, come twice a year! And never fail to bring good cheer And, when it rains, both silver and gold, May you "catch" all your "cups" can hold. But a better gift I wish for thee Than gold or silver ever can be -- That you may keep unto the end Your own pure heart, to be your friend.
