GABRIEL SLAUGHTER, ESQUIRE Lieutenant Governor (and acting Governor) of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME - greeting:

Know ye , That by virtue and in consideration of a Certificate Number [602 or (102?] the state price paid without Interest) granted by the County Court of Logan in August 1802 agreeably to an Act of Assembly for settling and immproving the Vacant Lands of this Commonwealth, there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto Archibald Felts assee of William Bowler

a certain Tract or Parcel of Land, containing Four hundred Acres by Survey, bearing date the twelfth day of October one thousand eight hundred and seven, lying and being in the county of Logan, on Gasper River, and Bounded as followeth.. To wit, Beginning on a post oak on a line of said Felts additional claim, thence up the River with the meanders thereof S15 W35 poles, thence S60 W40 poles thence S45 W6 poles to an Ironwood, and white oak Corner to James Mars on the bank of said River, thence South54 E50 poles to three post oaks Corner to said Mars and on a line of Humphrey Posey, thence N13 E14 poles to two Black oaks & post oak Corner to said Posey, thence with his line S40 E120 poles to a post oak, another Corner to said Posey, thence S40 W40 poles to two white oaks cornering on Posey's line thence South30 East186 poles to a post oak, and Spanish oak, on Harry Lees Military line thence with the same N23 East565 poles to three post oaks, thence N82 W928 poles to a post oak, in a line of [?] the former [L??y?] [?] with a line of the same S10 East 80 poles to a stake, South East corner of the same, and corner to his additional Claim, thence with a line of the same S77 E179 poles to a stake, thence South23 W100 poles to a stake, thence [South70?] W135 poles to two post oaks, thence north70 W60 poles to a post oak, and double white oak, thence north63 West80 poles to the Beginning.

With its appurtenances: To have and to hold, the said Tract of Parcel of Land, with its appurtances, to the said Arch Felts ...[seal paper covers words]...ever.

In Witness Whereof, the said GABRIEL SLAUGHTER, Esquire Lientenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, hath hereunto set his hand, and caused the Seal of the said Commonwealth to be affized at Frankfort, on the twenty first day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and [sixty?] and of the Commonwealth the Twenty fifth.

[&?] not touching the receipt by any of them of a horse according to the provisions of said will. He is also authorised to withdraw from the papers of this Suit Such title papers as may be necessary to execute this decree.

[E-C-74 #1904 4-15] The undersigned is Commissioner of Court in the suit in equity now pending in the Logan Circuit Court wherein Lucy Felts &etc are plaintiffs & Nathaniel Felts &etc are defendants, reports as follows to wit, That from the testimony addressed before him, (which is herefitoo marked A & made a part of this report,) he is of the opinion & so reports, that Nathaniel W. Felts should not be charged any thing for the [???] & occupancy by him since the oath of the testator, Archibald Felts, of the lands & premises accrued to [??] son, by the repairs & improvements made upon the lands by the said Nathaniel W. Felts are equal to the [rents?] & [use?] of said lands. I further report that I am satisfied from the proof [addressed?] before me that each one of the children & heirs of Archibald Felts [??ed?] from him during his life time a [?] worth $50 or its equivalent since his oath from his administrator & in fulfilment of the [will?] of said testator. I further report that having advertised & done all things directed & required under the decree in the [afd?]. suit, I sold on the 1st day of June 1853 to the highest bidder the 400 acres of [??] tract of land specified & refered to in the foregoing suit, when J. S. [Shannon?] became the purchaser at the price of $199.50 [amts?] & executed his bond as directed by said decree with Phineas J. Cox & C. Hutchinson his securities, pay [anow?] 1st February 1854 said bond is filed herewith marked No. 1. I sold at the same time & place two other tracts

Felts did have [received?] a horse of the value of fifty dollars according to the provisions of his will. said commissioner is directed to [his errand?] to execute the decree faithfully and the [caution?] continued for report and further [?], said commissioner is empowered to interrogate any of the parties to this suit touching the receipt by any of them of a horse according to the provisions of said will, He is also authorised to withdraw from the papers of this court such title papers as may be necessary to execute the decree.
