"The news from Ireland is very good. There is a regular organised opposition against Redmond among his former followers which promises to become formidable. Kitchener wants 300,000 more men but will never get them without conscription which I believe will come.

A German submarine held up our Irish fishing boat the other day, talked to the fishermen

fishermen, got some fresh fish and left the fishermen unmolested.

They have not sunk a single Irish fishing boat as yet, and it is making a splendid impression around the coast."

The writer of the foregoing is a very well known Irishman in Philadelphia with great influence there over all Irish political circles.

He organised this reception to Dr Meyer - and the banquet in his honour.
