Dear Representative
We want to take this opportunity to express the appreciaton of the Georgia State AFL-CIO and it's thousands of Union members for your NAY vote on the motion to table H. B. 601, copy of same is enclosed, introduced by Messrs. Dickinson of the 37th, Paris of the 23rd and Murphy of the 26th, when it was brought before the House of Representatives for consideration. This Bill deserved discussion and should have been voted on either for or against.
H. B. 601 would have liberalized the "waiting week" pay for the unemployed workers and would have done much for the man who works for a living and is temporarily unemployed due to no fault of his own and he and his family would have a few more dollars to live on until he was back to work.
We are sure that we need not point out that this extra week of benefit pay would have helped the business and professional people by putting that much more money into circulation.
We sincerely hope that you will join with us in the 1968 Session of the Georgia Legislature to help improve the benefits for unemployed workers by supporting H. B. 601 when it again comes before you for consideration.
Sincerely yours,
[signed] W. H. Montague Sr
