The Honorable Julian Bond District 136 - Fulton 823 Drummond Street, S.W. Atlanta, Georgia 30314

Dear Mr. Bond:

We need your assistance to help with our Manpower Development and Training Program. There are presently two projects now in Washington waiting for funding. These two projects were approved by a Regional Review Team on January 31, 1968. I have been told by reliable sources that these two projects can be funded if certain political influence is used. Specifically these projects are: (1) Clerk, General Office, R-8040, to train 100 people at a total cost of $293,332; (2) Refrigeration Mechanic, R-8051, to train 20 people at a total cost of $63,954.

We are sending you a copy of a letter from Mr. L. E. Nichols, State Supervisor, Manpower Training Programs, and a copy of the other projects waiting approval in the State.

It is suggested that Mr. Stanley Ruttenberg be notified of your concern over the lack of attention given to this program. His address is:

Mr. Stanley Ruttenberg, Manpower Administrator U. S. Department of Labor Manpower Administration Washington, D. C. 20210

Sincerely yours,

[signed]

Dear Mr. Ruttenberg:

I wonder if I might am writing to urge you to expiedite funding of two Manpower Training Programs designed for the Atlanta area.

They are for the training of clerks and refrigerator mechanics and are badly needed - with other programs - in this area

I certainly hope that your office can see that these programs and others from this section receive prompt attention so we can get about the business of providing job tarining and job skills for all.

Sincerely,

blind carbon to: John F. Standridge Executive Director Vocation - Techincal and Adult Education 2930 Forrest Hill Drive Atlanta, Georgia
