Dear Mr. Shull,

Thank you for your letter and the information you sent on Herman Talmadge. It has proved most helpful. I used it when introducing Maynard at a banquet last week and he is using it in his speeches.

Maynard's biggest problem is, and will continue to be, financing. His chanmces hinge, I believe, on his ability to get to a goodly number of Georgians between now and September 11.

Is there a "Washingtons for Jackson" as you mentioned in your letter? I have written letters appealing for dfunds to some friends there, but I have little chance of succeeding because I imagine most political money is committed this late in the year.

At any rate, we hope things will get better here before they get any worse. kThank you again.

Sincerely,

Julian Bond
