Mr. Julian Bond 162 Euhrlee Street SW Atlanta, Georgia

Dear Mr. Bond:

As Prsident of United World Federalists I want to invite you to participate in our Second Annual Procession to the United Nations, Saturday afternoon, October 26th.

Despite the defeat of the Vietnam Peace Plank at the recent Democractic Convention, the outrage many of us feel over th3e Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia, and the frustration many of us experience because of Amerian involvement in Vietnam, the day by day, year by year task of building the machinery for peace in the world must continue.

UWF elieves that a stronger UN is mandatory in order to deal with the Czechoslovakias and Vietnams multilaterally through negotiations.

Expressing support for a stronger UN is the centrail theme of the October 26th Procession to the UN. The Procession (from the Community Church, 35th & Park) will be followed y a short rally at the Dag Hammerskjold Plaza. We have invited Arthur Goldberg, Senator Joseph Tydings, Paul Newman, Rod Serling, Roert Ryan and many others to participate in the event. Can you join us for the Procession and will you consent to speak briefly at the rally on your convictions concerning a stronger U.N. to keep the peace? Until the tremendous amounts of money now poured into the war system by the United States can be safely re-channeled to the solution of the dire problems we have at home, we won't have the facilities so desperately needed for the m any Americans deprived of adequate income, education, houseing, and opportunity.

Please let me hear from you. We do hope that you can be with us Octover 26th.

Sincerely,

[Signed] James G. Patton

James G. Patton

President
