[in red ink] Dear Chuck:
Thanx for your help in Chicago. I can't make the date will write more later

Dear Julian,

I'm sorry that I did not get to see you before I left Chicago, but I left Chicago in a hurry -- in a disgusted hurry as a matter of fact. Now that I've had a chance to think it over a little bit, I think that we came off rather well in Chicago, and I feel a little bit justified for having taken the time. You can even tell Ben Brown that I think there is still room for both he and I in the Democratic party!

I imagine that since the events in Chicago, your life has been busy or at least full of requests. I have another one for you. There is a young people's group at the local YWCA which is having a youth conference the last three days of November. They would like you to come and talk to them. I would like to know if such an arrangement would be possible. You would be required to make, I believe, only one talk for this group or at least be committed for only one day. It might be possible to make other commitments if you wish but we can wait and see about that. What I need to know now is would you be at all interested in doing this and if so, other than your expenses, of course, what sort of honorarium would you require? Since you are coming to Salt Lake, Joan and I would of course like to have you come stay with us. When I talked to Joanie a minute ago, she asked me to make sure that that invitation is extended to your wife also. From the looks of things I have to be in New York on the first of December, so I'd like to think about making what ever other arrangements we want to make, social or otherwise, prior to the conference, rather than after it. Maybe we can sneak you into town and not have immediate commotion.

I am still doodling with politics just a little. More than ever I am convinced that this is one way many of the problems that concern us can be solved. Needless to say my vote for the President and Vice President in Chicago had a very highly stimulating effect on our community here. Anyway, please let us know if you
