Mr. Julian Bond The House of Representatives State Capitol Atlanta, Georgia

Dear Brother Bond,

SEP is holding its annual conference for 150 new Instructors who began teaching September, 1968 in black colleges. You might remember that you were unable to attend last year's event because of illness.

I do hope you will be able to join an interested panel of speakers at the conference this year. The conference will be held November 28th to December 1st in Atlanta. The theme is "Education and Black Liberation", or is the relevance of education in black colleges in the struggle against racist oppression. Other speakers who have accepted invitations are Vincent Harding, Gerald McWorter and A.B. Spellman. Also invited are Julius Lester and Harold Cruse, and Vivian Henderson.

If you can attend, we would like you to be a member of a panel of speakers, probably with some of those mentioned. We can pay a small honorarium of $80. Tentatively--since the schedule is not complete-- we would like you to attend the morning of November 30th or the morning of December 1st.

If you have any questions about the conference, give me a ring at 525-6042. I hope you can make it.

Sincerely, [signed] Larry Rushing Larry Rushing Director
