September 25, 1968

The Honorable Mr. Julian Bond

House Of Representatives

Georgia State Legislature

Atlanta, Georgia

Deat Mr. Bond:

The Liberty County Emancipation Association requests the honor of your services as guest speaker at its Annual Celebration, January 1, 1969.

Liberty County is in the center of a cluster of small coastal rural Counties in Southeast Georgia; namely, Bryan, McIntosh, Long, Evans, and Tatnall, near the sprawling military base of Fort Stewart. It has a population of 14,000 consisting of about 43% Negroes. It has long been outstanding for its high percentage of registered Negro voters.

New Industry has recently moved into the County and surrounding areas, which furnishes more employment to our High School Graduates who have had to seek suitable employment elsewhere.

This all adds up to a situation ripe for good leadership. We feel, that your appearence will provide a wonderful service in that direction. We hope you will fine it possible to sandwhich in this date with your strenuous schedule.

Signed:

Willie J. McIver, President
