Mr. Julian Bond 162 Eurahlee Street, S. W. Atlanta, Georgia

Dear Mr. Bond:

The Jackson Branch of the National Association For the Advancement of Colored People, would like to have you as principal speaker for a "Get Out to Vote Program" on the 28th day of October, 1968 or sometime during that week.

I would appreciate if you would advise me as to whether or not you could come to Jackson, Mississippi at this time. Should you find this impossible, I would appreciate your advising me of some date that you could in order that I might discuss the same with the Branch.

Your prompt reply to this letter will be greatly appreciated.

Very truly yours, [signed] Carsie A. Hall Carsie A. Hall President of the Jackson Branch

[Bond's draft response]: Dear Carsie: I wish I could, but I can't.
