Mr. Julian Bond 162 Eurahlee Street, S.W. Atlanta, Georgia

Dear Julian:

There isn't enough time for a long letter and even if there were I would have little more to say than this.

The accolades you are due for the recent Chicago episode and the earlier victories in Georgia belong to you and to all of us through you. One wants to find some way of thanking you for doing something which seems quite natural for you.

And yet being a sensitive and I suspect introspective person basically, the esteem and honor your fellowmen feel for you should not be too painful.

I, in my own way, join the thousands who if they could, would write the same kind of letter to say, simply and sincerely, carry on, God speed, and good luck.

Sincerely, [signed] Bill William W. Allison Deputy Administrator, EOA
