Representative Julian Bond Georgia State legislature Georgia State Capitol Building Capitol Square S.W. Atlanta, Georgia 30334

Dear Mr. Bond:

On Sunday, October 6, my minister at the First Nazareth Baptist Church appointed me chairman of The Youth Day Program Committee to sponsor a key national speaker for one Sunday this winter. Several prospective speakers were mentioned and your name appeared several times. I was asked to investigate the possibility of you being able to speak in Columbia some time in February, preferably after the 15th. The choice of a topic and an exact date can be either chosen by you of left for a later time. We suggest, however, that a topic appropriate for youth would be apropos.

You can be sure that regardless of what you talk about or exactly what day you can come you will find a large audience. We hope to hear from you soon, in order to receive the approval of the total youth committee.

Sincerely yours, [signature] Franchot A. Brown Chairman of The Youth Day Program
