PRENTISS NORMAL & INDUSTRIAL INSTITUTE

13 October 1968

[handwritten and circled in the right margin: When?]

The Honorable Julian Bond State House of Representatives State of Georgia Atlanta, Georgia

Dear Sir:

Being a student under your father when he was President of the Fort Valley State College, For Valley, Georgia, and being an honor student at Fort Valley State College and Atlanta University, and majoring in political science in the class with Honorable Horace Ward and Senator LeRoy Johnson, my president here at Prentiss Institute and the student body and faculty members asked me to "beg" of you to address them at a time when you could come and render such a service to these people. It is urgently needed in the country that such people with your magnitude speak to such groups. It is therefore, my pleasure to "beg" you to give me a date and of course the College will pay for your presence. You may take a plane from Atlanta and arrive in Jackson where our host will meet you and bring you out to Prentiss Institute.

Our college is very unique and we try to get the best personalities possible for our students.

May I hear from you soon, Mr. Bond?

Sincerely yours, [signature] HARRISON EDWARD LEE, CHAIRMAN DEPARTMENT OF POLITICAL SCIENCE
