Mr. Julian Bond 162 Euharlee Street, S.W. Atlanta, Georgia 30314

Dear Julian:

Thank god you were running unopposed! This year it was the only way to fly. I didn't know that you had been to Indianapolis to speak on behalf of my good friend Mason Bryant until last night when I called to find out how he did. He lost like most of the rest of our friends.

The reason I am writing to you is that I have a new idea to promote. It seems to me entirely possible that we could raise a kitty to support Black candidates for political office from numerous sources. There are many who are sympathetic to the goals we pursue. If such an effort is to be made, it should be in early next year; perhaps at the time that Richard Nixon makes his first faux pas. With this kind of organization, it would be possible to deal more effectively with all kinds of liberal causes both black and white.

If you like the idea and think that it is worth pursuing, perhaps we can cook up some kind of organization.

Best regards, [signed] Chuck Charles J. Nabors, Jr., Ph.D. Assistant Professor
