Dear Mr. Bond:

The Committee of Arrangement for our Ninth Annual Installation Banquet would like to ask you, on behalf of the Progressive Californians, Incorporated, Los Angeles Chapter, if you will be our guest speaker at our Ninth Annual Installation Banquet, to be held April 12, 19, or 26. Let us know which date might fit into your schedule; our schedule is flexible.

The Progressive Californians, Incorporated, Los Angeles Chapter is a civic and charitable organization. We feel we are doing a commendable job in our community. The following lists just a few of the many things we are doing to help those who need help:

a. Completed our Life Membership payment to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

b. Contributed to the Los Angeles Chapter of the Urban League.

c. Contributed generously to the Young Men's Christian Association and the Young Women's Christian Association.

d. The Stovall Foundation for the Aged was our Project 1965.

e. Realizing the great need of our assistance, the Legal Fund of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People was our Project 1966.

f. Our Project 1967 was the Watts Summer Festival.

Our Project 1968 was a $1,000 scholarship to Miss Sylvia Alridge, now attending U.C.L.A. Our Project 1969 is a scholarship for a

worthy black student of our community. Our budget allows for payment of a reasonable honorarium.
