Dear Don:

I am writing to tell you I cannot appear at the N.D.C. affair on the 14th.

Attorney C.B. King of Albany, Georgia has scheduled a dinner in Albany that evening.

He is a black lawyer and a candidate for governor of Georgia.

The other matter is this; I want to resign from the Board of N.D.C.

I want to do this because I haven't been to a single Board meeting since the NDC began, and because I cannot come to the upcoming one.

I understand that other Board members are understandably concerned about my lack of attendance. It is likely to continue in the future, as my schedule is going to become much more chaotic that it has been.

At any rate, it is not because of any lack of interest is NDC's success, or any sort of philosphical quarrel that leads me this way, but simply a feeling of dishonesty toward all of the NDC people if I continue as a non-functioning board member.

Sincerely,

Julian Bond
