It is a long time since I heard from you & I feel that it would be very nice to have one of your interesting letters telling of what you are doing & where you have been this Summer.

Summer school here which brought many in teresting people here. The Faculty staid here & we had many of our family as well as friends with us so we have had a very large household. Mr. Charles Keeler the Cali fornia poet & his family spent the Summer with us. He did much toward making the school a success giving some fine lectures & recitals in addition, to organizing it. He wrote a Play wh. was given at the end. It was of the Seneca Indians and historically true. It was given here outdoors & was very picturesque. People came from far and near & it was

in every way a success. You may have heard of Goldsborough Robinsons long illness_ it has made us very anxious. He is at Johns Hopkins now & we hope they will find the cause of all the trouble.
What a terrible time we are having with war! A loss that we - at least

in this country- thought impossible. It is too terrible for words.
I am proud of our President. I believe he is the best we have had since Abraham Lincoln. This crisis has proved his greatness.

About a month ago we had a visit from the Hon. George Fowlds of New Zealand. He was on his fourth tour of the world & was on his way by way of Vancouver. He is an ardent single taxer & went from here to Chicago to speak at a meeting arranged by Mr. Kiefer & some others-He is a very interesting man. You know they have had equal suffrage in N.Z. for 21 years & no one
